I love curriculum and revising curriculum. My partner in math (Jordan Smith) and I are always tweaking lessons, assessments, Projects/Tasks, writing prompts, SBAC prep, and... anything we can think of to help turn on the light and have our students succeed.
After spending most of my 20s and early 30s in a variety of different careers I landed in the teaching profession following in my grandmother's footsteps. I have been a teacher for almost 30 years, the first third of my career was teaching eighth-grade math. Now, while I truly loved my 8th graders, I have seen a difference in my response to teaching since I came to the alternative campus. I actively look for, adapt, and create strategies, programs, and lessons that allow for the diverse levels and needs of our population. I am more involved in all aspects of my profession due to my need to make sure the alternative school students get the same access and education that is available to all students - and I feel we spend more time supporting the whole child than a comprehensive high school has the ability.
